Since I am completely useless and have been for almost an year now, I have to look for things to kill my time with these days. In one such attempt, I have decided to write about women, their role and their reflection in our minds and in media.
Lets begin with the discussion I had with my girlfriend this morning. She was especially disgusted by women's role in the oppression of women. Her friend had mentioned that confronting the fact that the fairer sex are considered the stupider, the weaker, the more pointless ones because thats the way it has been and probably always will be in their life time, is a lost cause.
She was very vocal about her annoyance with the idea that since everyone thinks women are basically baby making machines, that cook and clean, (and can sometimes hold a job on the side where they're paid a lot less than their male counterpart) they were supposed to just lay down and take it.
If you ask me I always like a woman that just lays down and takes it *wink wink*, but I really hate people not standing up for themselves (pun intended). I respect most women a lot, and I truly believe that without them we would be just a crazy mess. From when we're babies to when we die, women are the only thing that keeps our marbles together. My woman yells at me most of the times we converse. Even in her sleep she blabbers something about killing me and my family but she still is the thing that has kept me together. She is my super glue, if you will.
Anyways, without digressing any further I would like to make it very clear that I am not sponsored by the Mahila Mukti or any other social welfare organization for women. I am just very pissed off over over simplification of the inequality problem especially in the country of my current residence, India.
Women are too weak, women are meant to tolerate it, its her job, she is a slut, she has no morals, her father was an alcoholic, she is just a bitch, she slept around till she got married. These are the kind of things women say about other fellow women. Imagine what men think of you when you guys become your enemy. It is this kind of rhetoric that keeps women reduced to the "weaker sex". Like charity, respect begins at home also.
Just to put this in perspective, during the latest elections in Chandigarh, a former actor/performer decided to run for elections against two other candidates. On her loss, a fellow actor with her allegiances to another party decided to bad mouth calling her undignified and an unfit candidate for her choices in dressing up. I would have understood if she was talking about Pamela Anderson or Poonam Pandey (IMO, the successor of Rakhi Sawant). They clearly dress up like, frankly; tramps. But the woman in question here was Gul Panag. Her most revealing outfit reveals her cleavage once in a while. But honestly, I think a little cleavage would always be good to calm down the animals who show up in our parliament. But thats just my theory!!
In the most recent controversy, or as us Indians like to call it bawaal, Ms. Priety Zinta decided to file a complaint about her ex lover and now business partner Ness Wadia for various abuses and misbehaviors during the IPL7 this year. Before I go any further, I want to acknowledge my love for my Zinta. I totally love her for everything she is, even after her choice to get her face nipped and tucked (or what ever they call that these days). So I am obviously biased. Anyways, so continuing with my point, she complained and all over twitter, facebook and youtube people have gone crazy calling her a jealous ex to an ugly old maid mad over being dumped by a millionaire who moved on with younger and as a result healthier (and boosemy) models. The poor thing probably had good reasons to go to court and look for a judgement against her abuser, unfortunately she landed her self in the court of the public and is being judged by the awaam more than the guy who allegedly committed crimes against her.
My observations and things that bother me is what I am write about.
Just that!
